The monograph Native Foreigners: Sport, Globalization, Communication represents a comprehensive and theoretically grounded contribution to understanding the phenomenon of athlete naturalization in the contemporary globalized environment. Authors Slobodan M. Penezić and Uroš B. Selenić analyze naturalization as a complex social process situated at the intersection of sports sociology, communication studies, cultural studies, and political science. Through a rich theoretical framework and extensive empirical research, the monograph shows that naturalization extends far beyond the sports field and becomes an indicator of broader global, political, economic, and media transformations. Its particular value lies in its critical approach, pedagogical dimension, and insistence on interdisciplinary analysis, which together open space for deeper insight into identity, belonging, and media representation in modern sport.
